Samsung announced a new Ultra HD Blu-ray player, which supports UHD Blu-ray disc playback at the IFA 2015 in Berlin. According to Samsung, "the Ultra HD Blu-ray player is capable of providing four times the resolution and 64 times higher colour expression compared to standard Blu-ray player". The Samsung’s UHD Blu-ray player also supports HDR and can play Ultra UD videos at the rate of 60 frames per second as well. Samsung also announced that its SUHD TVs are capable of displaying High Dynamic Range (HDR) picture quality, for greater contrast, better colours and details.
In addition to that, it can also upscale content to provide UHD resolution for any disc and supports 4K streaming services. Like the Samsung curved SUHD TVs, the Ultra HD Blu-ray player also has a matching curved design.
It also announced support for the new HDMI 2.0a specification, which enables the transmission of HDR metadata across external HDR-compatible sources. Samsung will release this firmware update to its SUHD TVs.
Europe will be the first place for the new Samsung’s UHD Blu-ray player to be launched, followed by other parts of the world.
